London’s biggest annual winter coat drive is back for its sixth year, collecting used outerwear for those who need it during the colder months.
Wrap Up London, organised by charity Hands On London, allows members of the public to donate unwanted coats at tube stations and in offices across the capital.
The charity has pledged to collect 15,000 coats and will distribute them at homeless shelters, refugee centres, elderly organisations, women’s refuges and children’s centres.
This year The Place will be holding a collection so please bring the coats in the back of your wardrobe that you don’t fancy wearing, that have gotten a little snug, or simply just your old coats. Maybe you need to make space for something new! We’ll take them all!
For a little more about this great campaign the Huffington Post made this 2 minute video:
We will be collecting your coats for men, women and children at Reception at The Place from Wed 9 – Tue 15 Nov. Please bring any donations you have to Flaxman Terrace Reception and hang them on the rack provided.
We are inviting, staff, students, class participants, regular hirers, children and parents to take part in the campaign over the next week so spread the word!
We could always do with a little help to arrange this so if you have some time to spare this week please let Laura (Laura.Naldrett@theplace.org.uk) or Keira (Keira.Marron@theplace.org.uk) know as you can help clear the racks and bag up the donations ready to be taken off site.
We want to help keep London warm this year, we’d love you to join us!
